Expect The Man of Steel to Don His Famous Red Cape in Supergirl Season 2

Kara Zor-El's, otherwise known as Kara Danvers, otherwise known as Supergirl has been communicating a lot with her cousin - known as Kal El/Clark Kent/Superman - and we've only seen silhouettes of him through season one of Supergirl

In an interview with Variety, executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg said "Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl."

But will he be in the entirety of season two?

"Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who dons the red cape!" Kreisberg said.

The role of Clark Kent for Supergirl season two could be anyone. Fans wanted Henry Cavill but you all know that isn't going to happen, fans also wanted Tom Welling, who played Kent on Smallville. Slight possibility but there's no way from telling who it's going to be.

Supergirl season one is currently airing on Sky1on Fridays at 8pm

The Jungle Book Review

Jon Favreau's live-action reboot of The Jungle Book is brilliant; you are transported from the very  first second, into the heart of the jungle with Mowgli (Neel Sethi) and Bagheera (Ben Kingsley).

The CGI throughout this film is magnificent and sometimes, you forget that nearly the entirety of the movie is CGI; it's lush, magical scenery and it's realistic animal animations, lovers of the 1963 Disney animation will adore this live-action film. The scenery and cinematography is every scene is breath-taking; it's when we meet Scarlett Johansson's Kaa - in the middle of what looks like the spider forest in The Hobbit - that we see just how great the CGI is.

This environment is as dark as the scenery gets and the eeriness makes a fantastic backdrop for the character of Kaa - who we maybe could have seen a bit more of in the film.

Sethi's portrayal of Mowgli is spot-on and it's hard to imagine if a better person could have been casted; the way Sethi walked, talked, gestured and looked were exactly like the Disney animation and how most fans would picture the animated Mowgli if he were real.

It was nice to see that Favreau got the on-screen chemistry between Baloo (Bill Murray) and Mowgli just right and even threw it the classic "Bare Necessities" song so that fans could have a little sing-along.

What was sloppy - and it was a shame - was the scenes with the monkey kingdom and King Louie (Christopher Walken). Again, the CGI of the monkey kingdom and the animals was breath-taking, but the script was slightly off, Favreau had turned King Louie into this dark and menacing character and the throw-in of the "Swingdance" song was awful. That particular song felt incongruous with the rest of the film; it wasn't needed.

However, what stole the show for me was Shere Khan voiced by Idris Elba. Elba got the voice of Khan spot on and his voice-overs and the CGI went hand-in-hand perfectly to create this show-stopping character. He was cruel, menacing, scary and possibly the best character in the film.

If Disney can carry on doing this well with their reboots of the classics, then they're going to be very successful indeed. This film honoured the legacy that Rudyard Kipling left us and because of that, this live-action reboot is a winner.

Shadowhunters Season One Review

The show follows 18 year-old, Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) realise that her world is not as it seems as she finds out that she is a Shadowhunter; she's thrown into the deep end of the Shadow World with her best friend (Alberto Rosende).

To save her Mum, she has to train with others of her kind including Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood), Isabelle Lightwood (Emeraude Toubia) and Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) and go after the Mortal Cup to stop the series villain his plan to ruin the Shadow World.

If you love the The Mortal Instruments or The Infernal Devices books, there is a good chance that you will not like this TV show; it doesn't really follow the first book and the storyline of the first book is skipped over and rushed in the TV show.

The first few episodes of this show are terrible. The beginning of episode one is four minutes of music; it's like an extended music video and doesn't set a good tone for the rest of the show. The next few episodes aren't much better; the acting isn't that great and only Matthew Daddario and Alberto Rosende give good performances.

The characters are loveable and as much as you find Clary Fray annoying, you're rooting for her to save her Mother and as much as you don't like Valentine, you still kind of have a soft spot for him.

Even though the show isn't brilliant, it has something about it that reels you in and makes you want to binge-watch the show again after finishing it. It's a rather odd feeling. You will want to tell everyone that the show is terrible and to not bother watching it, but it's your guilty pleasure.

Shadowhunters ... You either love it or hate it. You will either invest loads of your time in this show and crave season two, or you will want to delete any vestige of it out of your life because it was a waste of your time.

What happened to me? I got sucked in and now, I am so invested in the lives of these characters that I have now watched season one three times.

Which CW Shows Have Been Renewed?

The CW channel seems to be spewing out some of the most engaging and popular TV shows that are on our screens at the moment. The channel is renewing all 11 of its show that are currently airing and eight of those are relevant to us UK viewers. These are the 8 shows that are going to be renewed:

  • Arrow (season 5)
  • The Flash (season 3)
  • Legends of Tomorrow (season 2)
  • Supernatural (season 12)
  • The 100 (season 4)
  • The Vampire Diaries (season 8)
  • The Originals (season 4)
  • iZombie (season 3)

It's very very surprising that Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have all been renewed. Wasn't there a rumour going round a couple of years ago that Supernatural was going to stop at season 10? Well that surely all it was: a rumour, because they show no signs of slowing down - even though they probably should. There's only so much Supernatural the world can take, even more massive fans like me.

The Vampire Diaries. Nina Dobrev has left the show as the front runner, Elena Gilbert so where is the show going to go from there? Again, this show should have stopped a long time ago, maybe after season five or six. That's where it seemed to get slightly boring. Same with The Originals. After season 2, the show seemed to lose it's pull as The Vampire Diaries spin-off.

Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are currently airing in the UK on Sky1; The 100 is currently airing in the UK on E4, with Supernatural due to air on the same channel later this year; The Originals is available to stream on Amazon Instant; The Vampire Diaries will return to ITV2 in the UK later on in 201 and a UK air date for iZombie hasn't been released.

More Roles Are Cast For A Series of Unfortunate Events

We already know that Neil Patrick Harris is going to be betraying the villain, Count Olaf in the series, but which other roles have been cast?

Jude Law was cast as Lemony Snicket in the 2004 film, but for the series, Patrick Warburton (Rules of Engagement) has been cast for the role of Lemony Snicket. Even though we don't know if Warburton will just be a voiceover or whether he will actually be in the film is still unknown.

Joining Neil Patrick Harris and Patrick Warburton are 13 year old, Malina Weissman (Supergirl) and Louis Hynes as Violet and Klaus Baudelaire.

Is it me, or do they seem really young?

Barry Sonnefeld (The Addams Family) is directing the series.

Gotham Season 3 Confirmed

Ok, so finding the motivation to watch Gotham is very hard. It's easy to watch it's superhero counterparts such as The Flash, Arrow or Supergirl, but Gotham just doesn't seem to be on the same level as the other DC TV shows.

Gotham feels too busy...Like it's trying to tell everyone's stories at once and sometimes it gets messy. It's a good show, it is. But not as good as the other DC shows. That's why it's surprising that it's been renewed for a season 3.

Although, a season 3 means that we can continue to watch Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Enigma (Cory Michael Smith) continue to fulfil their roles as villains and we might - that's a big might - be introduced to the Joker in season 3.

The directors, producers and writers of Gotham are going to have to be careful when it comes to involving the Joker. They don't know how much longer Gotham is going to be on our screens for. Season 3 may be the last season or it could carry on for a few more. With rocky viewings, they can't take a few more seasons for granted to introduce the Joker.

Fingers crossed.

Gotham season 2 is now airing on Channel 5 in the UK

First Trailer for Netflix's Luke Cage

For those of you who follow the MCU religiously (or for those of you who don't) you may have heard about a certain Luke Cage having his own Netflix TV show.

Luke Cage was a character in Netflix's Jessica Jones who is superhuman. He will also make up part of the team: The Defenders.

The trailer is only 20 seconds long, but we can get a good feel to what the TV show is going to be like. Much like Jessica Jones, it feels like it's going to be dark but comedic at the same time.

Trailer:

Luke Cage will be available to stream worldwide on Netflix from September 2016.

Alice Through The Looking Glass Posters Are Magical!

Seriously though, how cute does the Cheshire Cat look in the poster? Absolutely adorable...

Trailer:

Alice Through The Looking Glass will be in UK cinemas from 27th May 2016.

Supergirl/The Flash Crossover Coming Soon!

Do you remember when all of those rumours swirling around the TV blogosphere were speculating that there would be a Supergirl and The Flash crossover? Well, they were right.

Kara and Barry will unite and help save National City.

With their being so many crossovers in the DC TV universe, hopefully this won't confuse things or make it even harder to keep up with everything that is happening. Hopefully it will prove that the DC universe possibilities are endless and hopefully, it will work.

Trailer:

Supergirl and The Flash crossover will air March 28th on CBS and will air in the UK on Sky1 later on in the year.

First Picture of Wonder Woman: Women Against The World

Guys?! How exciting is this?! Warner Bros. released the first image of the Wonder Woman film. Pictured here is Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta: Diana's mother and Robin Wright and Lisa Loven Kongsli as her military General Antiope and Lieutenant Menalippe who are also her aunts.

This is the picture that anyone who is looking forward to the Wonder Woman feature has been waiting for. We've seen pictures just of Gadot and we've also seen footage of her in Batman v Superman, but this is the first time we've seen a wider cast photo.

Wonder Woman will be in the UK cinema in June 2017.

Jessica Jones S1E9 AKA Sin Bin Review

This wasn't as good as last week's episode; which is surprising since it had all of the components needed to make a good episode. It had gore, manipulation and problems that are just messy and need to be sorted out.

The one thing that just still doesn't make sense is Jeri Hogarth's (Carrie-Anne Moss) part in all of this. The fact that her only point in this show is her divorce and how she calls on Jessica (Krysten Ritter) whenever she "needs" her to do something dirty. Of course, in this episode we see Hogarth tempted by Kilgrave's (David Tennent) power - she wants to use his mind control to sort her divorce out - but as she's so close to releasing Kilgrave, Jessica comes back and Hogarth has to act like nothing has happened. What is her point in all of this?

How much better would it have been though if this was a picture of Wendy - Hogarth's ex-wife?  They look similar and that would have made the Hogarth story line more interesting if Wendy was Kilgrave's Mom

Another scene that could have been better was the ending scene. Everything happened so fast. One moment Jones had found Kilgrave's parents (which seemed way too easy) and the next minute everything is going wrong and Kilgrave forces his Mom to stab herself, tries to get his Dad to cut out his own heart, tries to get Trish to shoot herself (luckily she had ran out of bullets from shooting the hermetically sealed tank that Kilgrave was in), Kilgrave makes Detective Clemons force himself out of the handcuffs and stop Jessica from catching him.

Now. That was hard to write. So can you imagine watching all of that happen in a matter of a minute? It was crazy.

One interesting thing that happened in this episode was seeing the character of Will Simpson (Wil Traval) transforming into his comic-book character: Nuke. The red, blue and white pills are introduced and in proper Nuke style, he loves the red pills (which increases his adrenaline). In the comics, Nuke has a second heart and takes the different coloured pills so that they can have different effects on his body. The blue pill brings him down from his adrenaline rush and the white one keeps his body balanced in between his missions, except Nuke doesn't like taking the blue or white pills. Is this storyline line going to carry on throughout the rest of the show? Hopefully.

Watching Jones trap Kilgrave in the hermetically sealed room, fill it with water that she could use to electrocute him if he stepped out of line was good because we finally saw the hero win at something. Of course that didn't last long.

What wasn't nice was the feeling of sympathy that we got for Kilgrave. Jessica had set up the videos of his parents experimenting on him in the back of his sealed room to torture him; you could see Kilgrave roll around on the floor covering his ears because it pained him to hear the videos and the voices of his parents. Whether this was supposed to make us feel sympathetic we don't know. But it worked really well. We got to see another side to Kilgrave and a slightly different side to Jessica. It was a nice change.

There was a lot that could have been better with this episode, it was too fast-paced and the Hogarth storyline is boring now but now that Kilgrave is free again and Jones realises that she cannot be controlled by his mind-control, everything is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Neil Patrick Harris To Star As Lemony Snicket's Count Olaf

Neil Patrick Harris announced on his Twitter account on 16th January that he would be portraying the role of Count Olaf in Netflix's rendition of the books.

These books were most people's - 18-25 age group mainly, considering the first book (A Bad Beginning) was released in 1999 - childhood and they were magnificent. Lemony Snicket (actual name, Daniel Handler) created a world that was frightening yet brilliant, it was magical.

The film 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' was released in 2004 and starred Jim Carrey and Emily Browning. It wasn't that good. They tried to fit three very detailed and very genius books into one film and it didn't work.

So far all we know is that Netflix have had this show under production since 2014, but has been slowed down due to the man that was supposed to be running the show - Mark Hudis - left, leaving no replacement. That was a pain. Barry Sonnefeld joined the show's crew last year as a producer and may even be a potential director. Daniel Handler has also come on board the show to be an executive producer.

Netflix has already ordered a first season for the much-anticipated TV show - but how many episodes there will be in the first season is unknown and the release date is also unknown.

Knowing how good Netflix have made Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Orange is the New Black and more original Netflix shows, hopefully they will delve into the darkness and the grittiness of the books instead of making it a PG family film. Only by making it dark will they truly show the horror of what this orphans went through.

The set of 13 books follows the journey of three orphans: Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire who are trying to escape the clutches of their evil relative, Count Olaf. He pretends to be all kinds of different people throughout the books to try and capture the children so he can have their fortune that their parents left them.

The Flash Season 2 Extended Trailer: The Team Heads for Earth 2

We all love The Flash. It's a brilliant show that engrosses the audience in every episode and with the look of the new extended trailer for the mid season premiere, it doesn't look like that's about to change any time soon.

Will it work though? Will the team going to Earth 2 and seeing villains that are dead in their world alive in this one and seeing friends, who are villains in the other Earth work? Or is it just a cop-out because the writers couldn't think of an actual gripping story? We will see. It all depends on how the story is told. If the storytelling is weak (which is very doubtful) then this idea will not work.

The Flash season 2 mid season premiere will start possibly end of February, beginning of March in the UK on Sky1

In the U.S, The Flash season 2 mid season premiere will air tonight - 19th January.
